Magdrive is seeking an Embedded Electronics Engineer to contribute to the development of the embedded control and ground support systems for the Magdrive Thruster. Our cutting-edge thruster technology promises to deliver unmatched thrust and efficiency, unlocking new possibilities in space exploration, such as satellite servicing and orbital assembly.
As one of Magdrive’s early team members, you’ll have a unique opportunity to take on significant responsibility and drive your own career growth. You’ll work closely with the electrical, flight, and R&D teams to develop embedded control units, ensuring system reliability and performance. Your primary focus will be on the electrical development of embedded systems, as well as implementing prototype software to validate the hardware.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded systems for the Magdrive thruster and ground support units.
- Develop prototype software to validate embedded system functionality.
- Perform rigorous hardware testing to ensure robustness and reliability throughout flight.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electronics with mechanical and software systems.
- Work with PCB vendors to enhance design rules, test strategies, and manufacturing guidelines.
- Document system requirements, designs, implementation details, and test procedures for traceability.
Requirements
Essential
- Degree in electronic engineering, computer science or 3+ years’ relevant industrial experience.
- Strong experience in electronic circuit design, PCB layout and hands on prototyping and testing.
- Experience with PCB design software such as KiCAD, Altium, Eagle.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture, including microcontrollers and peripheral interfaces (e.g. UART, RS-422, SPI, I2C).
- Good experience in embedded software development using programming languages such as C/C++.
Desirable
- Familiarity with industry standards for PCB design and manufacturing.
- Previously developed control systems for spacecraft or subsystems.
- Experience with version control.
- Experience in developing with real-time operating systems (e.g. RTEMS, freeRTOS).
- Good understanding of design for manufacturability, assembly, and test.
- A passion for electronics and a continuous drive to learn and apply new technologies.
